Supernatural 7x23 "Survival of the Fittest"

Sam and Dean make up a plan to break into Sucrocrop, Dick’s building and kill him with help of Castiel and Meg. Bobby possesses the body of a maid and tries to get into Sucrocrop first so the Winchester brothers have to stop him. The brothers have to say goodbye to Bobby once and for all and burn his flask. Once at Sucrocrop Sam rescues Kevin and Castiel and Dean kill Dick. Crowley shows up and takes Kevin. Soon after Castiel and Dean disappear into purgatory but Sam has no idea where they might be.
“Survival of the Fittest” is written by Erik Kripke and Sera Gamble, and directed by Robert Singer. This episode focuses on getting rid of Dick. Through this the Winchester brothers have to say a final goodbye to their good friend Bobby. This is one tell that relates back to the title of the episode, “Survival of the Fittest”; Bobby was definitely astute and outlived many people but his time finally came to an end, he is not one of the fittest.
It is ironic how the title also refers to what Dick is trying to do; he is actually trying to kill the skinny people in the country so his plan is to have survival of the un-fit to feed on them. Also, Crowley has shown to be one of the fittest as he has survived many events. Sam and Dean probably are the most fit out of all the characters since they are the protagonists. Throughout the episode Castiel shows how he is not fit, he has gone off the rails and lost his mind. He is a little crazy he still manages to be of help to Sam and Dean when they go kill Dick, so although he might be losing his marbles he is still helpful which is probably why he has survived so many things.

This episode overall is lackluster as a season finale. Yes it leaves the audience with questions but it did not have as great of a cliffhanger as other season finales. After seeing so many great endings to seasons past, this episode leaves a lot to be desired. Killing Dick was quite anti-climatic overall. But the episode still manages to raise questions. How will Sam figure out where Dean and Castiel went? How will Dean survive purgatory? Why did Castiel leave Dean and where did he go?
